PCM was created by American psychologist and university professor Dr Taibi Kahler in 1970’s. Researching communication, Dr. Kahler spotted certain patterns of behavior that are related to positive and negative reactions. In the times when our psychological needs don't get sufficient satisfaction for compensation negative stress (so-called "distress") reveal itself more often. Unconsciously we begin to be unconstructive, as opposed to any common sense. Unconstructive behavior brings us to conflicts of varying degrees with others, even to the point of breaking up a relationship. Those of us who are familiar with our own personality type and our own secondary characteristics, can consciously and timely detect the first signs of negative stress and prevent its escalation.
